Crumbs of comfort
Who was it that said a week was a long time in politics? We’ve had MP’s ludicrous expense claims exposed, the highest rise in UK unemployment figures since 1981 and to top it all off, Jordan and Peter Andre have decided to separate! You couldn’t blame anyone for thinking that 2009 is just a continuation of the doom and gloom of 2008. But there is hope! So where is the silver lining to these pieces of depressing news?
Well, while MP’s are clamouring to write out cheques to pay back their expenses and readership of Hello and OK magazines goes through the roof, we are also seeing signs of a consolidation in the temporary job market. With a tough first quarter of the year out of the way, there seems to be a steady and noticeable increased amount of confidence amongst some companies in recruiting temporary and contract staff.
Obviously, it’s still very early days and there’s undoubtedly some rough water ahead, but this crumb of comfort should be taken for what it is. Positive news. Anyone seen my copy of Hello?!
